Dave's Comments:
ROLLINS BAND returns with a vastly changed lineup, now comprised of
Rollins and the L.A. power trio Mother Superior. Gone are
the past band members, although to my ear, the sound remains essentially
the same: Various songs on GET SOME GO AGAIN are reminiscent of
past Rollins Band work. ILLUMINATION could easily fit with
stuff on COME IN AND BURN, while GET SOME GO
AGAIN presents a similar sentiment to DO IT.
In general, the sound is a little more 'straight-ahead rock and roll', but
the prerequisite dose of crushing Rollins Band might remains.
Guest appearances on GET SOME GO AGAIN include Thin Lizzy guitarist
Scott Gorham participating in his band's song ARE YOU READY?.
Also, Wayne Kramer of MC5 can be found on HOTTER AND HOTTER, as
well as on the hilarious 'hidden track' L.A. MONEY TRAIN.
There are a baffling array of versions of GET SOME GO AGAIN, with
some slight variations in the content of the first disc, as well as some two disc versions
where the second disc is the same as a bonus enhanced CD which
was released as a promotional disc. Thanks to Mark Weddle for his efforts in
getting this sorted out on his Rollins
Band 2000 page, and be sure to check out his Henry
Rollins News Page to keep up with what's going on!
Presumably, the U.S. version was meant to be the same as the Australian and
Canadian versions, with ILLUMINATOR listed as the thirteenth track
and L.A. MONEY TRAIN included as a fourteenth, unlisted track. However,
it seems that by accident ILLUMINATOR did not make it onto the discs
that were relased in the U.S.A., which is not what was desired. DreamWorks
issued the following statement:
ROLLINS BAND "GET SOME GO AGAIN" MANUFACTURING PROBLEM
Due to a CD manufacturing error, some copies of the new Rollins Band album GET SOME
GO AGAIN do not contain ILLUMINATOR (the Illumination remix) as listed on the album
artwork. If your CD contains this defect, please email us at
rollinsband@dreamworksrecords.com,
and we will send you a CD “single” that contains the missing track. In your email, please
include your name and address, along with the name and location of the record store where
you purchased the CD. Supplies are limited.
Or you can send a letter or postcard to:
ROLLINS BAND CD
9268 West 3rd Street
Beverly Hills, CA 90210
We apologize for any inconvenience.
People who did so were mailed a copy of the ILLUMINATION promotional
single, as well as a copy of the GET SOME GO AGAIN bonus enhanced
CD. It would be interesting to know if copies of the U.S. version exist that do have
ILLUMINATOR on them.
