I am in the night
I am every part of it
The consumption of its beast
The deck that it deals
The veins that bleed
The caress of its serpent

I am the night
As it writhes and undulates toward dawn
It moans and cries a symphony of anger
I am its agony as it struggles against the light
And dies with the strike of the Sun God.

Dave's Comments:

This single is the second of a set of two singles that both package THE END OF SOMETHING with two b-sides: The We Change Fear Mix version of the song differs from the standard LP mix in several ways: The bass and drum tracks are accentuated, there is an industrial sound that is used to enhance the beat, and Rollins' voice is given some overdrive distortion throughout the verse portions of the song. As well, some alternate vocal takes are used. The other b-side included on the U.K. version is THRESHOLD, by far the longest of the COME IN AND BURN songs released thusfar. Perhaps for that reason it was excluded from the album, because it would have interrupted the flow of the short songs.

The other track included on the Belgian version is ALSO RAN, which is also available on the Japanese COME IN AND BURN. The third track on the Belgian version is likely the We Change Fear Remix (although I'd have to hear it to be sure), done by Ben Grosse. The ILLUMINATOR Remix of ILLUMINATION is another of Grosse's remixes of a ROLLINS BAND song, and is not quite as subtle a remix. Thanks to Crunch for providing the info on this disc.
